Data.gov.sg

User research, user experience and interface design, platform design

Data.gov.sg—the government’s open data portal—was outdated, cluttered, and difficult to use. Its search function was unreliable, and most datasets were obsolete or incomplete due to publishing bottlenecks.

Behind the scenes, data-sharing across agencies was slow and inefficient. When agencies had to share data with each other, the process could take up to a year—hampered by tedious clearance forms, rigid workflows, and repeated restarts for minor corrections.

I led a redesign of Data.gov.sg to serve both public users and government admins.

  • Launched a mobile-friendly interface with faster search and data previews.

  • Built admin tools with automated validation for seamless dataset publishing.

  • Result: +124% API calls, +24% file downloads globally.
